After the marginal conditions of yesterday, this was the opposite!
I turned up the Shoreham somewhat late, to find several people changing
down to 3.5m sails... It didn't initially look quite that windy, but I
took the hint and rigged my smallest sail, a 4.0m, and when I got on the
water I was definitely overpowered at times. The wind was a little holey
though, so perhaps it was for the best. It was certainly hard to stay far
enough downwind at times though, during the strong periods, and it was
definitely a day for lots of short sessions with rests in-between.
No real waves (swell) today, just choppiness. Good jumping occasionally,
but not much riding.
A pretty knackering afternoon for me overall, and a not-so-gentle hint that
I ought to spend some time in the gym between sailing days :(
Also a reminder that I really need to buy a 370 mast for the 4.0, as it was
impossible to pull on enough downhaul with the 400, making the conditions
feel far harder than they really were.
A great afternoon in the sun and howling wind, despite not really giving a
very good performance myself. Should really have been on the Acid today,
but I've pretty much given up using it. The Evo was still very manageable
in 4m- winds.
